Ex Mea Sententias

Recently, because of the Imagine Cup 2009, I began reading on the 8 goals of humanity cause that the United Nations wanted to achieve by 2015. They can be found at this link.

So anyway, after reading it, I have 2 goals that I shall put in focus for this entry.
Let's start with education.

Universal Education for every child. Why is it so important?

Ever since the dawn of Human, we have learn the importance of intelligence and utilising it for surviving in the wilderness. However, as time goes by, this survival becomes less important and we begin to advance into another stage of learning whereby we learn for to create a better society for all. However, since the dawn of time, human also created another form of learning and that is religion. Religion at its prime time during the middle ages all the way to the enlightenment age has rule with its golden rule of "God" giving us what we had all need and what we are supposed to do and the morals we should live by. I'm not targeting any particular religion but religions as a a whole, meaning polytheistic and monotheistic gods are all under this category. Of course, Man has benefit from this form of learning, creating one of the best architecture and learning from philosophy along these lines that shaped our current world.

However, as Man become smarter, they discover something called Science, religious conservatives regard it as a threat to their society and begin prosecuting any "science" believers for heresy. But Man as known for his rebellious nature, stood to his own opinions and start to have lots of uprisings for the sake of bringing Science alive. Today, we are equipped with all the equipments of learning and theories of our dawn but still, religion lives in the heart of over 50% of the population with Christianity as a major player in the religious community.

Thinking of this makes me wonder why it spread so wide in the first place. For religious conservatives, they would say it is the work of god and so on while for historians with a solid background of what's happening will see the flow from ancient Rome (Constantine) all the way to the expansion of the european empires as the main cause why this religion spread far and wide. However, this is not my topic today so that's only a summary.

Science has brought us what we need today, our electricity, daily food, clean water, the internet I'm using and taught us why and how things work. Our forefathers of democracy taught us the morals of Man (contrastingly not the bible) in the words of the declaration of the human rights. Our comfortable environment gave us the opportunity to help those who are in need and focus on the advancement of man instead of survival and hunting for food. We are the gifts of intelligence and thought.

Thus the need for universal education is more important than ever. However, capitalistic corporations and religious missionaries have used this tool to spread their propoganda of thought. This for one, changes a lot of things. Imagine a christian/muslim africa 50 years from now. Its happening. Why does it all happen? If we can implement a global non religious, non capitalistic education, it would be perfect. Human would advance further than anyone imagine.
The thought of it makes me feel that life is so much more meaningful than worshipping every sunday or burning incense paper every 1st / 15th lunar month.

Another topic would be on the equality of gender and the empowerment of woman.

I have always thought that Man abuse Woman and did not want to treat them as an equal due to Man's selfishness from young until today. Just now, I realise that generally woman was treated this badly because they wanted it. Of course, saying this would be unfair to woman rights group and other independent woman, but do you know what is the meaning of equality?

Equality of gender would first mean the loss of the rights for man to take control of a woman's life or claim her as his own. Of course, why did Man claim her in the first place, Part Nature, Part Man's selfishness. Nature has always dim that the male gender will be more powerful than the female gender with the exception of the sea horse (male give birth) and some ape species.

Thus, its not easy for Man not to dominate in the first place since his genes was instructed to do so. However, with intelligence and the human equality in mind, we can overcome this problem with our own reasoning. This is where the part of woman comes in. The genes of the female gender was created with a weaker mindset so woman tend to need more emotional concern and love and care and stuff like that. However, if we were to treat each other as equal, the female gender has to remove this thinking too.

Man and Woman should start talking with reason and instead of sweet talking / abusing of the opposite gender, everyone should think about what they are talking about and say things with reason. This is the equality of gender.
